A selfish present for my kid

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Yep, my eldest is having a birthday in October, so when I start thinking about gifts, I start  thinking: Hey, how can I benefit? Yep, I’ve become that crazy old lady. Actually, I know she  would love a digital camera. She’s always taking pics on her mobile phone and sending them to me, so the next logical step would be a digital camera.

There are some cool canon cameras out there.

Most of my friends have them and they’re reasonably priced. I don’t think I’ll get her one of the big boys right away, but I do think it’s a good idea and as you know, I really dig having a win/win situation, so this is win/win all the way. All the photos of Pooper I can handle? Come on, that’s just the grooviest.

I actually want one of those nifty Canon numbers, but I can’t afford it yet.

Maybe after my big break…you know the one I’ll get by lounging in my pajamas in my room all day? Yeah, that one…

Wow–right in my backyard! (so to speak)

Radio City Music Hall was the place to be last night and while I was having a ball at my former local, I can’t help but think how much fun I might have had at the Dream Concert.

It was for a great cause. They’re planning on constructing a  memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and I’ve gotta tell ya, it’s about time. There’s no need for me to tell ya about the man. He did more for human rights than our leaders are doing today. That’s a crying shame.

BUT, the cool thing is the memorial will be completed next year. What a trip to D.C. that will make for me. Pooper will be old enough to understand it all by then.

Something groovy for me and timely, too…

As many of you know, I’ve been working on a book and I’ve got a ton of information to save on my little laptop. Knowing just how finicky a ‘gently used’ computer can be, it’s probably a good idea for me to back my data up off-site. I’ve seen some cool sites that offer a service that could be of use to me, but one has everything I’m looking for in the way of online storage .

Here’s the groovy part: IBackup offers online data backup and storage. This is perfect for someone like me who has a good deal of data that needs to be stored until it can be forwarded to the publisher.
The best part of it is that it’s all drag and drop. Even a nutjob like me can use it without having to understand how it works. You all do realize that I believe that it’s all witchcraft, don’t you? They’re the only game in town that offers that feature.

Looks like they’ve got a customer in yours truly, because this computer can be ‘moody’, shall we say?
Check ‘em out.

The weather is here, wish you were beautiful(thanks JB)

Last evening I attended a casual sort of ‘party’ for a dear friend of mine. Since it was at her place of employment (she’s a bartender) I’m not sure she had as much of a good time as the rest of us, but it was groovy and we had plenty of laughs.

Claude and I were in rare form–we’ve not been in such comedic splendor in a long time. At least not at that particular watering hole…the comedy flew from our lips like magical jewels of hilarity, I tell you. Also met up with a pal I’d not seen in over 2 years. She made nice with a new ‘regular’ which was sweet. I’d brought some treats: Congo Bars and Eggplant dip. Both went over well. So well, in fact that a very comely lad made some mouth noises about wanting to marry me. Since I am saving myself for Racer X, I had to decline his offer, but it was nice to get a little hug and a peck on the cheek every time I passed by him. (which was often)

In retrospect, the old me–the Mayor of Makeout City, would have taken that lad aside and given him a good workin’ over. He was younger, he was cute and he was well built. He also smelled like freshly laundered clothes. Yummy. Am I maturing or was I just having too much fun with Claude? Who knows? All I know is the weather IS here and gosh darn it, you ARE beautiful. I’m glad that I went out for once. I’ve started to wonder if I wasn’t becoming a bit of a hermit. Glad to know I’ve still got the tractor beam working and my social skills, meager as they are, still rock the school.

A shout out to my pretzel muse. Good seein’ ya. No worries regarding the ‘incident’. Sorry if I dropped the hammer on ya. The hammer of justice was dropped on the dork, so it’s all groovy.

Keep on truckin’ kids. Life’s pretty groovy as far as I can tell.
