Changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes

Borrowing from Jimmy Buffet seems apropos right now…after all he’s the man who gave us “The Great Filling Station Holdup”, one of the funniest songs in history and I admire that.

Well, first things first. I have a very good friend who organized her own festival and she’s been facing some challenges so I gave her the gift of being the glass. I might not have shared this with you, but it goes like this:
Some folks see the glass as half empty–the pessimists. Others see it as half full—optimists. Well, the foolosopher sees the glass. That glass is a useful vessel and you can fill it with whatever you wish. If you’re focused on being the glass, you’re gonna focus on being useful and seeing what is beneficial to you and others, ultimately because you’re not going to be a nervous wreck agonizing over things you can’t change.

I’ve been the glass for a while now. It was really difficult at first, I have to tell ya, but seriously…once you accept the glass and you can BE the glass, man…life is groovy. I may not have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of, but I’m happy. As you, my faithful readers know, my goal is to be the happiest person on the planet. Goal achieved thus far.

The next thing  is that I feel like I’m back to the funny again. It’s exciting. I feel my creativity flowing like Ripple in a back alleyway. Performing at the Vagina Festival was a blast. I got to improv in a relaxed atmosphere. The laughter energized me. I’m back, kids.

So, look to this column for my club dates. No more pissin’ and moanin’ about not  moving forward, okay? This time let’s all commit to being the glass.

If you can’t change your circumstances, change your attitude.

Some way to think, huh?

In closing, know that I’m always praying for the best for all of you and you’ve got to vote if you’re  a U.S. citizen. You MUST. Hey, I don’t care who you vote for, just vote. It’s a right that people died for and you can’t let it go to waste.

Keep on truckin’, my rock and roll doggies!

Being the glass is a good idea but I prefer to be what’s in the glass. I don’t look at it as being half full or half empty I look at it as having something! It is right, change your attitude and your situation will change (even if it doesn’t). Regards!

it’s always groovy to be the glass and i can’t poo poo the notion of digging what’s in the glass, but see…the contents will change…the glass will nearly always be the useful part of the equation.

that’s just pfunk’s foolosophy…you can have your own.

I never knew you were called a foolosopher or about the concept of being the glass, but thats what I’ve been trying to do over the last few years. As you said at times it gets tough, but then if it is to make things get better why not be the glass. After all we’ll make this world a better place by putting a smile on someone’s face. Its a gain and not a loss!

I definately agree with what you said about “If you can´t change your circumstances, change your philosophy”. I´m living away from home just now and it really sucks, but I´m making the most of it and I´m enjoying it! I´m just not dwelling on the fact that I´m here - I´m making the most of it! :-)

Very true, trying to change the attitude of other people will just give you a nervous wreck. That is why I love the serenity prayer that asks for wisdom to grant us the courage to change the things we can change; the serenity to accept those we cannot change; and the wisdom to know the difference. But we should be courageous not to give up on what we think is right. Don’t just give in and follow the people who can’t be change because we should stay firm on what is lawful and moral.
